Other Things We Need to Do
This page collects naming ideas, system sidebars to write, and key design decisions that still need development or finalization.
System Name?
What should the system be called?
Possible names and taglines:
- Aspect Web
- Weavebound — “Weave your own fate.”
- Fourfold Weave
- Loom of Fate
- Weave Your Fate
- Tapestry — “No classes. No limits. Just the path you weave.”
- Destiny Loom
- Wyrdweave — (Old Norse “Wyrd” = fate) — “Where every choice becomes a thread in your story.”
- Fatespun
- Web of Fates
Alternative approach: keep it generic as “My RPG”, reinforcing the idea that this is your system to shape.
D4 Calculation Sidebar
Create a sidebar for the documentation demonstrating how easy it is to add d4s.
Key ideas to highlight:
- Many dice pair to form 5s
- This makes most rolls easy to add mentally by counting by fives
- Helps counter objections that “adding up a bunch of dice is hard”
Eventually, consider making a demo video or short animation that visually shows how this pairing makes play faster than expected.
Spell Tags?
Introduce spell tags such as:
- Arcane
- Divine
- Nature
Benefits of tagging:
- Domains can grant access to one or more tags, rather than specific class-style lists
- Supports hybrid casters and custom builds
- e.g. A Fey Domain could grant access to both Arcane and Nature spells
- Enables new tags like:
- Illusion
- Healing
- Fire
This avoids bloat while allowing flexible, expressive magic access.
Magic Missile
Design goals:
- Always hits (bypasses Evasion/AC)
- Fires multiple small darts
- Each dart does 1 HP of damage
Questions to resolve:
- Should darts be allowed to target the same creature or require separate targets?
- Can the caster increase the number of darts by spending resources?
Scaling ideas:
- Higher tier unlocks: more darts
- Cost options:
- Mark additional Stress
- Increment the used counter beyond normal
